ok didn't read the rest but i just week to this class like 2 weeks ago.. and they try to place your due date on your place period sometimes never right.. your first visit to your doctor you will have an ultra sound... and they will tell better then.. on top of this the class was really boring!! lol and you just fill out paper work get your first appointment and go on.. that is it.. i would worry more of him taking off for the ultra sounds and stuff.. OH Sara they just started this crap!! lol i was like i need this class for my 4th child and they were like its just for paper work you have to fill it out every child.. ugh...

Sara --- 12 years ago -

Ahh...I was wondering. I didn't have my class that long ago, so I wasn't sure. Thanks!

*Shelbysmomma* --- 12 years ago -

and caity, about the exact due date. they gave me a due date of feb 23rd but once i had the dating u/s they found out the baby was a week below what they thought. so id wait til your u/s to get your FORSURE due date.

boone --- 12 years ago -

The class wasn't worth the time to me honestly. You can leave after you schedule your 10 week appointment. When I went they started on the second trimester video and about 3 people came in to talk to us and stopped the video and didn't restart it. One chick went through the "important" slide on the power point hand out and then was done. I drove longer to get there than the length of the class. I personally wouldn't have taken my hubs.

AirborneWife --- 12 years ago -

Basically everyone says the class is stupid. I don't want to go but whatever I guess it's mandatory I am getting all my prenatal carr here on island but will not be havin my baby here. Is this going to be an issue with any of the doctors as far as them taking care of me and all that? So basically the hubby will not go but once I schedule my U/S at that stupid class, is that what comes next or is there something else before that?

*Shelbysmomma* --- 12 years ago -

when i wetn they scheduled me 2 dif apts. 1 was for my physical wich is when you get a pap and all that good stuff. then they also scheduled the u/s. im seen on kadena though so i dont know if thats how it works for people seen on lester.

Sara --- 12 years ago -

So basically the hubby will not go but once I schedule my U/S at that stupid class, is that what comes next or is there something else before that? It depends on the openings really. I had my first prenatal appt today, and my dating US tomorrow. They were shocked that they weren't on the same day or something. So, those are the next two things to come...

I would talk to Bernadette at the class (She'll be scheduling your apt) about what the issues will be with the doctors and you not delivering here. You don't automatically get to be seen at the OBGYN clinic just because you're pregnant. You usually go to your PCM. Yes the next thing you do is your 10 week ultrasound at the OB clinic and then you will be seen by your PCM after that.

AirborneWife --- 12 years ago -

Okie dokie. Yeah Kim I get seen at kadena too so maybe it's the same. I do want to learn as much as possible and will plan on bringing my husband since he says more than 2 of ou said it is informational. Once I call, do u think I can get in the same class that day or the next day or is it a once a week type of class?I think we will be highly pissed if we go an it's only 20 minutes with no info! We both want to learn so much about the changes with the baby as well as why certain things are happening with my body, if this makes sense. We are both very interested and if they don't give enough of a shiit to give us the proper info that the class is supposed to provide, well then they proved me right on my opinion of military doctors. Another ?? I have is, the paper says if your are having any cramping or bleeding to go to Lester. No bleeding, just cramping. It occurs probably twice a day but I'm so scared already so I don't know what to do. Is this normal?

MissyLouWho --- 12 years ago -

I am not going to read through every post because I need to finish making dinner. However, my husband did take off work for the prenatal class and he liked it. It gives a lot of good information for first time parents to be. But, he went to as many appointments and classes as he could with me, including baby boot camp.

It occurs probably twice a day but I'm so scared already so I don't know what to do. Is this normal? You can always call your Dr and ask, better to be on the safe side. But if there is no bleeding, they likely won't do anything for you ... other than tell you to do some bed rest and drink LOTS of water. Which is what they said at the prenatal class is the reason for 90% of the calls to L&D ... dehydration.

Can I rant about something for a second?

AirborneWife --- 12 years ago -

I hate biitching about the army mainly because I feel like one of those wives who is naive and thinks only if herself. But my husband just told me that they have jumps for the next coming weeks so he won't be able to go to these appointments. I'm distraught to say the least. I'm trying to stay calm but I'm crying and all that now because I don't want to be alone. If he were to be deployed that would be one thing. But he is here and it's our first child. All my friends just pcsed so I am in the process of making new friends but really if I wanted another girlfriends of mine to go with me, I would have not gotten married and would have become a lesbian! Lol (sorry had to lighten that mood) I just don't wanna be alone. I want to experience this with him and us to experience it together. The other day when I went to that doctors appointment for them to take the lump out of my leg, they wouldn't even let him go with me and I was sooooooo scared! I don't mean to sound like a bad wife who cares only of himself, really I don't. I'm just having a moment:(

AirborneWife --- 12 years ago -

I meant herself in the above statement not himself....damned touchy iPod!! Lol

AirborneWife --- 12 years ago -

Ok so I just got a good piece of news. My mom talked to my doctor back in the states. She agrees to let my mother deliver my baby (of course my dr would be present). Also they stopped accepting Prime and only take Standard. I groaned at this but the other half of the good news is that all of the fees for the nurses and her assisting and all that are being waved as a courtesy. So no extra payments. Yipppeeeee! I guess that lightened me a bit after my mini meltdown:)

I wanted to add on to this thread because I stumbled upon this class for pregnant peeps. It seems more like a real workshop that will give you plenty of information. For Pregnant Couples: Good afternoon. American Red Cross will be offering a Healthy Pregnancy/Healthy Baby class for expectant couples beginning the last week of August. This will be in the evening and will be at the American Red Cross on Kadena AB, building 721B. If this is your first child or you need a "refresher" in the birthing process, this is the class for you. The training will be approximately 4-6 weeks with 2 nights per week. If you or someone you know is expecting and would be interested in this training, please contact your American Red Cross at 634-1979 or email kadena@usa.redcross.org with your name, email address and phone number.

Wow Rachel! Thank you! This is going to help us out so much. I was looking for one of those classes. I want to learn how to be calm and breathe. As long as I am calm, the baby will be calm:)
