I have a question, hundreds actually, but my main concern as of right now is housing. Does anyone have any opinion about onbase housing, to be more specific, what housing should we request? I was told to decline the towers. I should add that we have two children. Finding information reguarding housing in okinawa has been murder, I hate not knowing what my home is going to look like. 

you aren't really allowed to request housing here.... but if you have two children there is a good chance they will offer you the New Chatan housing. It's all brand new and pretty nice. They are town houses, that's where I live. And it's literally less than a five minute walk to the PX.

The towers arent bad, thats where we live. We have 3 kids and are in a 3 bedroomrtower. The towers have more SF then any other place on base but u loose the yard :) Hey anyone know if new chatan housing has 4 bedroom? Just curious

I live in the new Chatan housing on Foster. We really like it. We have 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Yards are small but we have a park right behind our house. We are Air Force. Our neighbors are cool and we hang out alot. Hope this helps a little. 

i live in the new chatan housing on foster as well. we love it! we didnt wait that long for our house. its a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath. my husband is in the marines and i dont know my neighbors..lol

If I had it all to do over again, I would live out in town. I live off base, its nice, just hard to make new friends :(.. Although, I have found here really nice people :). and I enjoy here alot ..

hey, to you who live in the new chatan housing, send me your addy lol... maybe we are neighbors and never knew it! ;) we should get the kids together in one of the parks! well.... whenever we get some sun again! Back to the rain.... blahhhh 

I live on Kadena (Air Force Base) and I am lucky and have very nice neighbors. There are some nice places out in town as well..it's really up to you. If you get offered places you don't like and turn down both choices then you have to live off base. I say get here and go to the housing agencies and look at off-base places too, to keep your options open. 

I moved from Camp Pen to here and I like it but I miss Oceanside=[ but I also have a sister and 5 nieces and nephews there so it makes me home sick. 

I LOVE living offbase. i think I would die if we had to move on base lol 

Oki is all what you make of it. Its a really great place, the locals are expecially nice compared to some in the states... Be sure to bring lots of books and such for the plane,the ride is hella long!

no there isnt a 4 bedroom in the new chatan housin they are all 3 and 2 bedrooms i live in one with a 2 bedroom and we live right infront of the park and the neighbors are kool

I live in the towers and I love it here. Honestly, it depends on which tower u are living in, but I have heard NADA about my tower. Off base is very nice too.
