All these people on OYS selling or giving away their dogs. I mean why did you get on in the first place.
I so badly want to write something rude to all those people, but decided to take it here...
How would they like it if we ripped them out of there homes and tossed them somewhere they did not know where they were or who they were with....
I believe there was a thread here earlier about shooting stupid people on site.. I think these people need to be considered for the capping...
Just my rant for the day....
They may be leaving Oki and might not be able to take them. Or maybe they cant take care of them. Maybe they didnt realize how hard it would be to take care of an animal. Id rather see them place ads than just throw them out on the side of the road.

True to all of that. But anyone with half a brain should know that a dog is a HUGE responsibility before they get them. Isn't that common sense?
The 3 that were front page just a few minutes ago said change of living situation, and allergies, Im sorry but my dogs are my kids and if my living situation changed I would be taking them with me for sure. They are not disposable at all... as for allergies, you should not have gotten a damn dog in the first place...
Oh and I love how they write "I would hate to take her to the pound"
I think it is your responsability as a owner to make sure that you find that dog a new home, in no way shape of form should you be taking any dog to the pound...
Sometimes I just want to take them to the pound and lock them in a cage with nothing but dry food and water....

true but common sense does seem to lack in a lot of people lol. And really you cant know but so much about something if you have never experienced it. We all live and learn and sometimes learn the hard way.
as for allergies, you should not have gotten a damn dog in the first place...
I understand some people think of pets as kids but you shoudl understand that sometimes you dont know you are allergic until you get an animal and maybe one of their kids was the one to be allergic to it. I know this is a touchy subject for pet lovers but be understanding of anothers situation before you assume they are just horrible people.
We all live and learn and sometimes learn the hard way.
But at what cost... when a dog gets moved around, its damaging to there self asteem.... it just makes me sad, thats all.. I wish I could take them all in..
so i worked in outbounds for 3 years and i know how this works.... see people come here with dogs/pets or buy them while they are here thinking we are allowed to take 2 animals back with us to the states, thats not true..... it depnds on pet space availability.... and there are only 8 spaces per commercial plane and 12 on the amc.... so for the people who wait to make their travel arrangements and have pets they have to find another way to get them to the states.... which would be a cargo plane.... which is by no means cheap.... so people sell or give their dogs to other people..... there are more rules which get in to quarenteen and all that jazz.... if you want more information you can look up the pet embargo act.
I know this is a touchy subject for pet lovers but be understanding of anothers situation before you assume they are just horrible people.
I understand that thinigs come up, believe me, but you should not even have the pound as an option.. it is their resposability to find them a GREAT new home, not to just dump them at there convience..
sweet.. we have a dog lady and a cat lady...
If I were not married I would start a kennel in my home.. But my hubby about killed me when I rescued my last Mini Schnauzer...
When I was about 12, My mom got mad at me casue I wanted the cat with one eye and runny nose at the pound... Cause I knew no one else would take him... I still remember his sweet face..
I have had several Oki Cats

This is just my Oki Cats.. but now we have kids and I cant have anymore..
I used to get mad those ads as well until I came to realize that I am going to have to post one of those ads soon as well...Sometimes things come up that are out of our control. I know in my sitution it breaks my heart and I dont want to do it but I will have to.
brownkells,
I totaly understand some people have diffrent situations. Please just do your best to find your furry pal a home. Please dont take them to the pound.. If you need someone to foster let me know!
That sucks :( I know sometimes people have situations and they have to make that tough decision. I have had to make it twice since being here but I gave my pets to my friends. I had a cat that beat up my other cat and would hiss at us all the time (which I gave to "Mika Chan" on here) and then I had a dog that was deathly afraid of my husband so I gave her to another one of my friends. I wanted to make sure they were going to good people and good places!
No matter what the cost is, my Dezzi (dog) and my Spica (cat) are going with me wherever I go.
And allergies I don't see as much of a constiution to get rid of a pet, unless you have a kid that's allergic. I'm horribly allergic to my cat, my eyes swell up, I get small hives and I itch, itch itch! BUT by giving her baths once a week, it prevents any problems I get from her.
I think that the ones that bother me more then anything are the ones that say something like this:
$1000.00 purebread WHATEVER
4 months old. Need to sell baby is on the way soon.
I understand that everyone has their own situations don't get my wrong BUT I feel that you should not buy a god for that type of price, determine you don't want to follow through with the responsibility of taking care of it and then try to get reimbursed for your mistake.
I know I know . . . "but you don't know their situation" . . . I get it. . . but if you are not sure or in a place where your situation might not be stable in the next couple of months you need to make an educated decision on whether that $1000.00 dog is for you. There are plenty of FREE mutts around.
Kitty I wouldn't know first hand but there must be something about being pregnant (and almost due) that makes you want to mother something. I swear that every pregnant lady who is about 7 months gets a puppy and then realizes about two months later that it isn't going to work out. I just don't get it!!! Wait two months and you'll have so much on your hands you'll be thinking "why in the world did I want a puppy in the first place"

I understand what you are saying, and I don't get it either, but I think that a person who makes a thousand dollar decision about something like this and then decides later that is it obviously not the decision for them MAYBE need to go through a little bit of money management skills and certainly not expect someone else who is essentially helping them out to pay their new puppy bill. IMHO.
I think it's better then abandonning them. We rescued a kitten from out and town and clean him up, got him medical attention and now we have to give him up. Does that make me a bad person? I wish I could take him with us but we already have two. And there was no way I was going to let this sickly little kitten roam the streets alone.
We have no idea why people give away thier pets. There are a number of reasons to consider. People need to think about these things first before we take aim at them. However, I must agree that people should really consider what they are giving up when getting a pet. It's not always easy, especially with dogs. People should definately take a time out before committing to something like that. Hopefully the people that are giving up thier pets will find them good homes.
it depnds on pet space availability.... and there are only 8 spaces per commercial plane and 12 on the am
Thanks for posting that Danielle. That is good to know! I will definitely be signing up asap when the time comes close to PCS because there is NO WAY in hell I am leaving my cats behind.
of corse it does not make you a bad person. There are always things that happen that we will not understand. That doesn't mean that things don't still irritate us to see. . . .
I think more people need to understand that it is work to have any pet and that things do not come easily. The fact still remains that there are people who get rid of their pets because they are too much work when I am a believer (and I understand that not all agree) that if you take under the responsibility of a pet you follow through with it not give up on it. You for example cleaning up the kitten and taking care of it before having to get rid of it for whatever reason is still more responsible then some I believe. It's a vicious circle here on island though. Families coming and going wanting just want they want not thinking about the consequences or responsibilities causes nothing but more strays and unfortunately there is little that we can do about it because even when you try to get more people to understand the responsibilities of getting a pet they still seem to think that it is an overnight process.
