My daughter's goingt o be 5 in September. Daddy's deployed and I want her first birthday party with friends to be special. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't really want to do Monakid's since everyone else does that. But, I do want to do something special that we could only do in Japan. Thanks! Deanna

What cartoons is your daughter into?

Scottish Gael Girl --- 16 years ago -

She's not really into any one cartoon. She likes the Disney princesses and Hello Kitty. I would like to have it somewhere so that all I really have to do is show up. I have fibromyalgia and it's hard for me to organize, carry out and clean up events like this.

MOMZ --- 16 years ago -

Okuma does birthday thingamagigaz. You may want to look into that? After the party you could always hit the beach. :)

lilmama --- 16 years ago -

Unfortunately, there isn't a lot to do here on Okinawa for birthdays unless you want to do the BBQ/bouncy house thing like everyone else or Monakids. Blah.

You can do a Disney Princess Tea Party! That would be super cute.

Paul --- 16 years ago -

Do it at Comprehensive Park...or one of the big rollerslide parks...you really don't see those in the US. There are a couple around with the really long rollerblades and pavilions around, not sure if you can reserve the pavilions or not though.

Thanks Paul! That's a good idea. So is Okuma but...my husband is deployed and I have fibromyalgia so we might have to save that for next year. Actually, MOMZ I was thinking of doing a princess party. I hadn't thought of the "tea" part of it. I just thought there might be more original places/things to do for birthdays in a different country. :( What about the USO? Don't they have a party room you can use? I thought I heard that.

You can do a Disney Princess Tea Party Awww I am so using that one when my 1 yr old gets older awesome idea!

Scottish Gael Girl --- 16 years ago -

I thought they had a party room. Is the theater room a place where you can play your own movie? I did hear too that they do cakes from the deployed service member to the family member. That would be nice too. Thanks, M! I'll check it out next week.

Search OYS for princess parties. I saw a lady that throws some cool lookin party for girls. You can be there to watch and she entertains them with like manis and pedis and other "princess" stuff

MOMZ --- 16 years ago -

My daughter did go to a birthday party at the USO. They had free drinks and popcorn and watched a movie. She also went bowling as well. They have that bowling party room seperate from the big one.

MOMZ --- 16 years ago -

Ooooo....theres a lady that sells Tutus. I wanted to do a party with those but my daughter was a bit too big for it. :( It would be a great party gift as well.

Scottish Gael Girl --- 16 years ago -

Hey! I was thinking about the tutus myself and the mani/pedis too. I was actually looking for the tutus this morning. I remember about the USO and free popcorn now. I think that would be a great place especially with the bowling. My daughter would LOVE that!

Soccer mom --- 16 years ago -

That sounds so cute. A princess party and they can watch princess's movies and dress like princesses. I wish I had a girlie girl. :(
