I just love it when people have to eat there words. Too bad Honcho isnt here to read that. I was the one that posted that info like a month ago and he bit my head off telling me it couldnt be true because he had not heard of it.
I posted about how they were not allowing anyone to live off base anymore and how it had been passed down to my husband through his command. I posted that on here to let those moving here know. I was pretty much called a liar.

Awwww, Well there ya go in black and white, now everyone knows your not a liar anymore.
Aaaah, I remember now, yes I remember Honcho saying that. Im sure if he were here he would apologize. The deal with house-basing is pretty much out there for a while ( since you mentioned it if I remember right ) . But what call my attention its not only that blog, also the others blogs in that webpage. Its like the perspective of a Okinawan dealing with "us" .
I've heard about this. I think they should let people live where they want. They get enough of our money while we are over here.
Apparently they are losing a lot of money on paying OHS. I have a feeling this might affect the House Basing Agencies.
Ah LilloudyMouth, its quiet entertaining. I think the person who writes them is so silly.
He is prob just another American who is sick and tired of the stupidity that happens on this island because of the amount of stupid Americans/Service members that are on this island. I can not say that I blame his for some of the views that he has. There are times that I too am disgusted with the things that I see fellow Americans doing on this island because it is not only stupid and ignorant but also reflects of all of us, even those of us like myself who try to keep good relations.
Although the way they drive on island is not really safe. I think its funny that "Y plate hater" thinks they drive so well.
Honestly I think that there are bad drivers on both sides of the spectrum, but I will say this. I have been in more "accident prone situations" in the three years that I have been here on base then I have off. And by that I don't mean like little things I mean like head on collisions, broad sides and pushed off the road literally. Not that I am defending anyone or anything like that, just stating my observations.
As for bad drivers, I see many more American bad drivers than I do locals.
ooh not me! Americans drve faster, yes. But I see way more locals doing more dangerous things and assuming that there aren't people behind them so what they do doesn't matter. Drives me nuts. Someone said to me one time that they need an "urban driving" class here for them. again, though this is just my opinion and what I have seen. I understand others see things differently.
There is a really good article in the Stars and Stripes last week about the housing rules. An Oki housing guy was interviewed and he seemed pretty worried about the loss of money.
I definitely have had more near misses with Americans here. Plus, the driving in San Diego was way worse than anything I've seen here.
The things I have seen on base are phenomenal and it's not just driving fast. Things like. . .
(And these are all on base Y plate examples)
A van running right through a 4way even though other cars were already stopped and I myself was mid intersection.
Pajero pulling our of towers parking area while I was already in front of her broadside.
MR2 pulling out of parking space without looking backwards actually slammed directly into the front quarter panel of my car and blamed me for turning into my parking space.
Woman pulling out of the gym in a black 4 door heading towards the light to turn but not merging into her lane when I was trying to merge into the gas station. She drove from the far end of the gym in the center lane all the way up to the light. In this process as I was trying to turn she beeped her horn at me and sped up while we were head on forcing me back out of the turning lane into traffic although I was already stopped with my blinker on waiting to turn.
Coming off the flight line to turn before the AMC terminal a van decides to pull out into the road and stop in the middle of both lanes preventing me from turning and waiting for me to actually stop and signal him on, I was almost rear ended by the car behind me because of this.
These are just a FEW examples. All of which are cases when people should know better.
I'm terrified driving here...just the motorcyclists alone scare the heck outta me!
If you really wanna see crazy driving, go to the Philippines (mainly Manila). They create 4-6 lanes out of a 3 lane road. But just like the Japanese, they're used to that style of driving. Just like a person moving from a small town in idk, Texas would have a hard time driving in California.
I do agree that there should be a driving test though. I've been to that class and heard a lady passed with a 50! I've even seen someone driving on the wrong side of the road.
My thought is this. As a motorcyclist you have to take what is called either the Basic Rider's course or the Experienced riders course when you get here to be able to ride a motorcycle. It's like a driver's ed or sorts. You have to take it again every 3 years as a refresher while you are here (and I believe in the states as part of the mil) I personally think that they should have something similar for car drivers. There are so many car drivers that could use a refresher I think it would be helpful!
Was it a little black car?
If it was, it was probably me. If there's noone on the road and I can SEE noone for a long, long stretch sometimes I drift to the other side of the road in housing and pretend I'm back in the states.

Shh, don't tell anybody.
I did that once when I first got here and started driving and it was on a back road when I was by myself. I think everyone drifts off once or twice when they first get here and learn to move on the other side of the road, although when it's in an area with traffic I think it moves past an accident and more into lack of attention being paid to the road.
I've even seen someone driving on the wrong side of the road.
Ha ha. I've had that happen three times in the last three weeks. All three times coming right at me. But that's PCS season for you. Most everyone does it at least once. When we first got here I did it in front of the PO on Foster. Towards an MCCS bus.
It is like you asid though, always on the back roads and by myself. Sometimes in the deserted parking lots really late at night.
LOL you make it sound really shady lol.
