For those of you who had babies out here, how long did it take you to get your baby's birth certificate and passport? I've heard it takes a long time, and i'm kind of panicking because we have plane tickets to the states like 2 and a half months after she is born...does anyone have any advice or could share their experiences? Thanks!!! :) 

When you go into the hospital to give birth take EVERYTHING with you (you should have a packet with papers to fill out and it should tell you everything you have to send)!!! Because it will take 6-8 weeks to get back so you need to turn it into the birth reg. office at the hospital as soon as the baby is born, and it might get back to you in time.

Ours took about 2 months. But we did them together. What I would suggest is that you get the birth certificate and the passport done at the same time. It will cost more money but it is faster that way. You will be getting the babys Tourist Passport, But she can still fly with that one. You can then get the No Fee Military Passport later on if you like. Normally you have to file for the birth certificate and then wait about 2 months for that to come in, and then you have to send the birt certificate out with the passport information to get the babys passport. which takes about another 2 months. and then make a photo copy of the passport and then send out paper work for the SSN. Or at least that is what they told us. When you go to the birth registration, they will ask you if you would like to do the passport and birth certificate at the same time. I think, if I remember correctly you will have to pay 60.00 on a money order for the birth certificate, and then 80.00 on a money order for the passport. You can call them to find out the exact prices. They have to be 2 seperate money orders. You have to go and get 2 photos of the baby done first. They take 1 hr to develope. You can get them done at the Kodak Photo Gallery inside the PX on foster. The Kodak gallery inside the BX on kadena does not do passport photos. I found that out the hard way :( If you have anymore questions you can PM.

Your will need your marrige licence, yours and hubbys passports, Yours and hubbys birth certificates. 2 money orders if you doing the passport and birth certificate at the same time, and 2 photos of the baby. And im pretty sure that is it. They have paperwork for you to fill out tho. SO go and get the whole packet from birth registration. Its located in the hospital.

they told us we could just make 1 money order, cuz it all goes to the same place. Oh well maybe they changed it then. My son was born at the end of Nov. They told us we needed 2 seperate ones. If I were you Lauren I would just call them to make sure. Things could have changed since all of us had our childrens birth certificates and passports done. Best of luck. Its not as hard as it seems! I promise. Once you do it you will be like OMG that was soo easy. What did I get so worried about lol. Or at least that is how I was :D

I went to it, And that is where I got my packet from. The hospital also gave me one when I was close to giving birth. The only thing about Bundles For Babies, is that you have to be so far along in your pregnancy. I think it was like 20 or 25 weeks pregnant. They gave me a 2 crib sheets, a pack on onsies, and a baby bath towel set. Great free gifts!Its for the daddys also! My hubby didn't go cuz he had work. I was the only mommy there without the daddy :( Also if you are new to the military you should go to Heart Link. Its an all day program but its soo much fun. You will make alot of friend and learn sooo much helpful info!! Breakfast and Lunch is provided. And in the end you will get your spouses coin!! 

I turned mine in 2 days after he was born... I didn't get his birth certificate back until he was 9 weeks old...Turned in the passsport info that same day... and was told it wold take 8 weeks to get that back. It's been 2 weeks.. just waiting for it now.

It's been 2 weeks.. just waiting for it now. Yes, That is why we did ours at the same time. It only took about 2 months to get it all back. Except for the SSN, that took about another 2 months.

And Amanda...do we need the SSN for her passport?  You can't get the SSN Number until after you get the passport. Makes no sense to me but to get the SSN# you send in cert. copies of the birth certificate and passport. 

yeah it was, I also did one money order 150 dlls, submit the info, ( they help us when in doubt ) and that was it..As soon as your baby is born, make the appoinment once you both are release from the hospital.

baby bootcamp? Ya they have it on Foster...its supposedly a "fun" class for the parents to be :)
