Can you use them while breast feeding? (I believe someone answered this before, I just don't remember the answer :-p) Also, can they put one in right after I have the baby? I don't wanna wait for my 6 week follow up.
thanks :) I don't want ANY oops. Hubby isn't grasping the concept of no condom = no sex until I get back on bc, and I may not be able to wait the 6 weeks!
IUD'S SUCK!!!! I had one and wound up with an infection in my uterus and MAJOR MAJOR pain for over a year. Took 2 years and a surgery to fix everything. Happend to a girlfriend of mine to.
I may not be able to wait the 6 weeks!
They put me on the mini pill (safe for breastfeeding) the day I gave birth. We have a habit of only waiting 14 days LOL :)
Thanks, wantsOUT. I'll need SOMETHING when I leave the hospital. I know I need to wait and heal and all that jazz, but I'm already so damn deprived (because of me) I don't think it'll happen.
I know I need to wait and heal and all that jazz
My OB Dr told me as follow
If u have stitches u must wait 8-12 days so they can dissolve
If u dont have stitches wait at least 7 days and if it hurts dont do it stop
Sex must be GENTLE for the first 6 weeks (missionary and slow) nothing fast and nothing wild or u can damage and bleed more :)

I'll take slow and gentle for 6 weeks as opposed to slow, PAINFUL, and with a ginormous belly for 6 months.
I'm breastfeeding right now (I had my son in March) and I have an IUD--mirena. I LOVE it!!!!! Some people have problems with it, I personally haven't. You have to wait for your 6 week check up to get it. I would NEVER use the pill they suggest ever again. I used it with my first son and bleed 20 days out of every month--the Dr said it was the pill.
I agree with Anastasia, I love my IUD also. I haven't had any problems and I don't bleed at all.
isn't it great!!! I love that. I talked to a bunch of people before I got mine and it is a either love it or hate it type of thing.
Anastasia, was it the mini-pill or regular bc?
I honestly don't remember it was 4 years ago and at that time it was the ONLY pill you could take while breastfeeding. My gut says it was a mini-pill.

Yes it is! Yeah I've heard both too. I'm just glad mine's a love thing. :o)
I love not having to worry about trying to remember to take a pill everyday.
Dom, you really might not mind waiting the six weeks. I know for me, it was the LAST thing on my mind.
First off, you will likely bleed for a good portion of that six weeks. Everyone is different, and every preg. is different. I bled longer the 2nd time-for like 5 1/2 weeks. :(
Second, you will most likely just be exhausted. The one thing I wish I was told before baby was that the stories of how exhausted you'd be were really true. And probably even under-exaggerated.
Also, depending on how your delivery goes, you might not feel so great physically. I had an episiotomy with B, and it took over 8 weeks to feel "ok" and probably about 12 to really feel totally normal again. I was a little on the outside of the norm for that though.
The mini-pill is ok to take too-but either way, you aren't going to get any sort of BC from your doctor until your six week appt. :(
I dindnt read all of the other comments, but I got the IUD at 6 weeks and breastfeed my daughter until she was 6 months.
Also, I didnt have a period the entire time I had the IUD and I Had it for a year and a half!
Thaaaaaaaaaanks for the hope :-p
Poor Dom. Those are just things I wish someone had told me before having a baby. I have lots more I can tell you, lol. You just let me know.... hehe. I'm talking about the kind of stuff no one will tell you...they just tell you the rainbows and cupcakes stuff. :)
But, you'll be fine. :)
Nicole, tell me EVERYTHING I need to know! Lol I don't like surprises when it comes to things like this.
We'll talk in person. LOL. I need to drop that stuff off for you. I called and left you a voicemail today. Except....I left it on someone else's phone. DUH. I realized I dialed the wrong number. LOL
Breastfeeding exclusively will usually keep you from having your period for quite a while.
Unless you are unlucky like me. :(
10ish weeks for both kids. BUT...I honestly think it was due to the mini-pill.
