I just bought a potty seat for my 18 month old daughter...any suggestions on how to get her to use it?(its been 9 yrs since ive had to do it) she is very interested in mommy using the potty so i figured its time for her to start. She tried to push me off so she could get on it the other day ..it was cute LOL :-)

i went out and got mine her own under wear and had her pick them out. have her go try every hour.. and don't of course try nights right off the bat. some kids do good to giving them a piece of candy after they do something.. and some aren't ready as early as we think they are.. so don't try to push the fact.. and is something happens like daddy leaves.. or change in the house it can go backwards.. wish you lots of luck.. because mine didn't start wanting to do this until they were 3..

I would like advice on this too. My tot just turned 2 & I expect he'd start soon. :>

i did the potty training in 3 days method. it worked great.. and my kid's a stubborn little cuss. the method says to check first and see if they have the bladder control to start by stopping liquids 2 or 3 hours before bed. as SOON as you hear them stir or get up in the a.m. check their diaper. if they're dry, they're ready for sure. #1-- throw out all diapers and pullups. together. tell them they're a big kid now and they cant wear any more of those baby things. #2 let them pick out their big kid underwear. #3.. stay in for 2 or 3 days, try not to go out if you can help it. give them plenty of juice and water so they have to go more, and have more repitition of the routine. stop all liquids 2 to 3 hours before bed. #4 do the potty dance every time they get it right.

mine is going to be 4 and still asks for it every once in a while. she thinks its hilarious. probably because i dance like a wounded duck. bahahahaha!

I tried to potty train my son with he was a little over 2yrs and he fought me hard on not sitting on the potty. I quit pushing it and started potty training him again 4 weeks ago and he's doing great with it. He's had 2 accidents in the last 2 weeks. I started out with a treat after he went and now I only give him one if he mentions it. He'll be 3 in November. He also wasn't too interested in the potty chair...he likes the big potty.

Oh and lots of praise!

I would say the biggest, most important thing is to WAIT for your CHILD to be ready. That much honest emphasis on it. I waited until my son was truly ready. He was about 2 months away from 3. It took us only a couple of days, with no special approaches needed. He was night-time trained within a couple of months after that.

The "potty" dance sounds mighty gay.

I would say the biggest, most important thing is to WAIT for your CHILD to be ready. I'm not gonna force her to do it...She just seems very interested in the potty so i am going to attempt it :-) If its successfull than yay for me no more diapers if not then we will just keep trying until she is ready ...
