I am going to have a Sched C-section for my last baby in Dec and get my tubes tied. Is there anything you would recommend I purchase in advance to help with healing or to make life easier? I have a pretty high pain tolerance and know the sooner I get up and walk around the better. And I know what all to expect from a regular delivery but I do not know anyone who has had a c-section. So any must have items please let me know.....We r in a hotel and will be after I have the baby, they have a regular Pack and Play I can use for the baby and we will be flying back from Hawaii to OKI 2 weeks afterwards if all goes smooth. Thx in advance for advice :) Ps The Dr. recommeded I buy a post partum C-Section Girdle so i am going to look into that

Nicole --- 15 years ago -

Never had a c-section, but I've heard that a Boppy is pretty much a must.

Lizzie Borden --- 15 years ago -

I have had four c-sections 1991, 1997 (both in Charleston,SC Non military, St. Francis Hospital with the BEST OBGYN in the world., 2004 (LESTER) The absolutley the worest pain I have ever felt in my entire life.. and 2006 in Montana in civilian hospital.. An awesome Doctor.. who cleaned up the mess and scare tissue from the 2004 procedure... I am pretty tolerable of pain.. and yeah.. they hurt.. and the one from 2004 hurt just as bad as the deviated septum surgery I had.. but the other 3 were a breeze.. Hydrocodone makes me extremely hyper and I was cleaning the house on the 3rd day after the forth one.. So if you do tolerate pain.. you will be fine.. Just take what they give you.. The only sucky thing.. is that muscle is weak.. and its hard to get a flatter stomach .. everyone I know and my self who has done the c section.. has a lil pooch..

Lizzie Borden --- 15 years ago -

You'd think that eventually you'd get the point, Lizzie. You f*cking idiot. Wut you say.. I cunt hear you.. Tits ok.. I could care less.. cripple dick! And while your at EMF! Eat my Fvck!

Lizzie Borden --- 15 years ago -

You should be fine Ms. Taken.. and congrats and good luck... Having a family is wonderful.... Some people will never be blessed with so much love from these lil monsters.. like you and I... Its a love that cant be described... Good Luck on the surgery!

Nicole --- 15 years ago -

Some people will never be blessed with so much love from these lil monsters.. like you and I... Some people don't want little monsters. I wouldn't assume anyone with kids is jealous (gasp!) of your 4 c-sections and subsequent monsters.

justbecause --- 15 years ago -

I like monsters. I like cut up bellies. I like hummus. I like attempting to jump in a burning ring of fire. Hmmmm.....

Mrs. Taken --- 15 years ago -

You should be fine Ms. Taken.. and congrats and good luck... Thx, I was really hoping for another natral but they said nope. SO I am just nervous of the unknown :)I hope the baby does not decide to come early like my others or my hubby might not be here. He is not deployed either just working in OKI at our home. But thankfully they said at least my other kids can stay with me at the hospital. So it will be a busy room LOL.

justbecause --- 15 years ago -

Wait, while you're in labor? Getting sliced open? ...I read that wrong, right? Not that anyone cares....as I don't either if you care or not....;)... My oldest got to see the last one born. Head coming out the cooch and all. Her and daddy got to cut the umbilical cord together. Kodak moments. O yeah...the blood squirted everywhere and on the nurse. She ran to the sink to wipe down...JIC I may have had AIDs or something. It was hilarious. The blood squirted on the wall pics too. LMAO. End.

To be honest, getting a c-section really isn't that big of a deal (at least not to me). The best thing you can do is get up and walk around ASAP. Trust me, it helps get things moving again. A boppy is a must, but thats for anyone having a baby. I don't really know if it helped me as far as healing from a c-section. However, I wasn't using it as much as I should have in the beginning, and my tendons are still recovering from that. A baby is heavier than you realize. I can't really think of anything that is a "must-have" that wouldn't be required for a regular delivery, to be honest. Besides the pain meds, which they send you home with. Just don't stress out about it, you'll be fine.

I had a c-section here on Lester 4 months ago. After the surgery I had so much brusing. I was black and blue all over. I went back to the hospital 2 days after I was released because the sight of it scared me. Turns out it was ok, and eventually it went away. The doctor said if I saw what they did to me it would explain why my belly looked like I was beat with a bat. My belly also hurt when I touched it because I had some bleeding(forgot what it's called)under the surface of my skin. Gosh, it hurted so much. After I had my son I had a postpartum helper come and help me around the house. It worked out great, because I couldn't stand seeing my house messy. My husband did what he could so whatever he didn't get to do, she did. Overall, I healed up fast because I got plenty of rest!! Goodluck:)

OP, I will say this. I know A*M*A and because of that, I was scared to death to get a c-section. I thought I was gonna end up like her. However, I had no visible bruising (it was still there, I just didn't look like I'd been through a gang initiation, lol). Keep in mind that some people may be more sensitive to bruising and bleeding. Oh, I was swollen like a MOFO for about a week and a half afterwards. I looked like a stuffed sausage.

When I had my c-section at the naval hospital in jacksonville nc (the best docs and nurses ever!) It was not bad at all. If you are in good shape then the recovery will be quick. I was up and walking two days later. It is not as bad as some women make it out to be. The best thing is to not lay around and be lazy try to get up and move sitting around will only make you stay on pain meds for a longer period of time.

A*M*A --- 15 years ago -

Oh, I was swollen like a MOFO for about a week and a half afterwards. I looked like a stuffed sausage. Me too...LOL...I elevated my feet and had my husband massage them and it went away!!

Lauren --- 15 years ago -

Mrs. Taken...first off, congrats on baby coming soon! I had an emergency c-section, and it was horrible...but that was because they cut me before I was totally numb, and a slew of other events...I just have some advice about the pain meds afterwards...they were giving me percocet ever 4 hours, and it helped a little, but then one of the nurses gave me an 800mg Motrin to take along with that (which I ended up taking every 8 hours along with the percocet, which was still every 4 hours) and it helped me SOOOOOOO much I can't even tell you...I don't know why, but I felt SO much better with both of them...like it was crazy the difference. So if they offer that, I would take it :) Also, when you walk around, try doing it after you take your pain meds and are feeling better...it was SO much more bearable, and it still got things going :) Good luck!!! :D

FGIALC --- 15 years ago -

...but that was because they cut me before I was totally numb AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Screw the baby. My a$$ better be comfortable.

Mrs. Taken --- 15 years ago -

But thankfully they said at least my other kids can stay with me at the hospital My oldest 12 yrs old will have to walk around with the little ones in there stroller while I have the C-section or they will get them into my room during this time. And they will be in my room with me afterwards until i am discharged or my hubby can fly in from OKI. If my hubby is here and it goes according to sched the kids can go to the waiting room daycare (here at Tripler) for 2 hrs during the c-section then my hubby will pick them up and bring them back to the hotel and just come visit some during the days I am there. My daughter was 9 when I delivered my 2nd to youngest and stayed in with and Dad while I labored and delivered. I made her turn her head and wzatch the TV while I pushed and got cleaned up. But she heard all the Natral labor pains etc. BIRTH CONTROL LOL. But she did great and loved the fact she stayed with us the entire time.

Mrs. Taken --- 15 years ago -

...but that was because they cut me before I was totally numb OMG how scary! I hope u and your baby are doing ok now. WOW is all I can say!

Lauren --- 15 years ago -

2006 in Montana in civilian hospital.. An awesome Doctor.. who cleaned up the mess and scare tissue from the 2004 procedure... OOH! OOH! what clinic/hospital, and who was your doc?

I really hope I don't have a c-section :( I have NO pain tolerance. Im getting induced at 39 wks because Im on insulin pills, but my blood sugars have been great and the baby isn't too big, so Im trying to avoid scheduling it:( I want to go natural!

┌∩┐(◕_ --- 15 years ago -

Its really not that bad, I promise. Don't let the horror stories scare you. My goal was to go completely natural too, but everything happened exactly the opposite of that. Make sure your mind is prepared.

¥OUnique♥Oki --- 15 years ago -

Make sure your mind is prepared. Im working on that. :) Im just worried about the recovery if I have to get one. I have a 16 month old, so I know I'll be getting up and walking around to take care of him along with the baby. Im just stressing myself out now.

┌∩┐(◕_ --- 15 years ago -

You actually NEED to be getting up and walking around ASAP. However, you do not need to lift anything over 25lbs, no if's ands or buts. You could rupture.

General Lee Oblivious --- 15 years ago -

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it or not, but be prepared for air to be stuck in your uterus for a few days. My nurses called it hoohoo farts, cause well, when they come out it sounds like a loud nasty fart. I am sorry if that grosses anyone out, but it happens. I was told that its easiest to just play it up and have some fun with it. Anyways, good luck and an early congrats!

┌∩┐(◕_ --- 15 years ago -

That didn't happen to me. I had extra air in me, yes. However, I did not queef once :)

¥OUnique♥Oki --- 15 years ago -

I did not queef once :) LOL!

Nobia --- 15 years ago -

My csec at Halyburton Naval Hospital (I don't think they deliver there anymore) was terrible. The only thing that went well was the spinal block. You really don't need "what goes wrong" stories so I won't go there, however I do recall having to send my husband to buy me new shoes because my feet swelled up to the point that I couldn't put on even his shoes (maybe have crocs handy or something).....
