Finance overpaid the gov't travel card last time the man went to korea. just got a refund check for the extra.

they pay that out of the total travel voucher amount, so he gets to keep this refund right?

i'm calling them in the morning.. but you know.. thought i'd see if any of you have had it happen.

I think it would depend on how they made the mistake. It's possible that they did the right amount to you, but just entered the wrong numbers for the GTC. I wouldn't assume the money is yours-even if they tell you it is-have him check his travel voucher and such, just in case. 

We've only been overpaid once and we had to refund it. Although they refused to take it back until Mr. LLIO got back from Iraq. 

I have a friend who got overpaid something or other (I can't remember what) and finance told them it was legit, so they spent it-except, turned out finance was wrong and then they owed it. That's the only reason I say have Mr. Casey check his personal records too before you spend it.

We personally have only been overpaid when paychecks have been double deposited-but of course, you owe that back. :) 

We got paid for Mr. LLIO's entire expected time in Iraq in October, even though he had two months left. So he basically got paid for eight months instead of six. Something to do with the end of the fiscal year and the computer deciding he needed to be paid twice. 

the amount of the voucher we got back was smaller than expected, so i figure this is where that money probably went... 

They probably just overpaid his Govt CC it happens all the time.

We always put "overpayment" into savings. Just in case they decide they want it back, they can have it.

I had a friend who was overpaid quite a lot. So much so that she didn't get paid for a month and a half. Then the next check was only like 300 bucks or something. 

finance said it's for sure the man's money, they have no claim to it.

That's what I did. It was almost $8,000 so I put it into a high yield account and made some money off of it while we waited to be able to return it. 

i stuck it in the savings because i usually do that when we get money we did not expect. also got money back today from something i overpaid myself. we had a monthly payment coming out, and i didn't notice the statement i grabbed was from the month before, so i got almost the same amount from that back as i did from finance. w00t!
