My husband and I are PCSing to Camp Kinser in August and I was hoping to get some information on the housing.
Is most of the housing pet friendly? How far is Kinser from Futenma?
Any information would really be helpful!! 

Kinser is mostly towers. they made several pet friendly recently... it's probably about a 15-30 minute drive from kinser to futenma... really depends on traffic. 

10 minutes to Futenma on a good day, 30 on a bad day. Use back roads and it's usually ok.

Ah... that bites. What's up with housing on Foster? I didn't realize they were that full and had that much construction. 

Actually they did the same thing the whole time we were there. It isn't new for people to live on Kinser and work on Futenma. 

When I lived here last time my wife worked on Futenma and we lived on Foster.... but the house we were in (over 10 yrs ago) is being renovated- the whole neighborhood is. 

Same here, my wife works on Futenma, and we originally lived on Foster. Same as most of the people in her unit, until recently that is... 

We had two neighbors who worked at Futenma (we lived on Foster) but then had friends who got on island and were given Kinser. I'm not sure there's much rhyme or reason to housing. 

I love it here. Me and my husband both works at foster and it's just keeping us low profile here. 

Yeah my husband is going to be working on Futenma so that's why I was wondering. We were trying to figure out if its far enough we need a car or if he can just bike it to work.

I was looking at the outlines for the house our Sponsor has given us and it looks like there might be a laundry room type thing in the Kinser tower apartments. Is that true? I honestly don't know which tower we're in but on the paper it says Location: Camp Kinser, Bazley Towers, Futenma. Just wondering if we can bring our washer and dryer or if we should put them into storage. 

Don't bring your washer and dryer. Housing will have a washer and dryer in your house when you move in. Personally, I wouldn't bike to work from Futenma to Kinser. It seems kind of far for that. I don't know the mileage. Maybe you can Google it. 

it's far enough i certainly wouldn't bike it. i used to bike about 4-5 miles to a friends place not that long ago. msotly, i'd be wary of biking through that area, traffic is pretty intense sometimes. 

Kinser to Futenma is close enough to bike. Actually, if you are a biker, everything on Okinawa is bike distance. A lot of people bike over here, however if you aren't used to biking in heavy traffic then I wouldn't recommend it.

Is the tower on Kinser pet friendly? I've heard it is but I want to make sure! 

There are several towers on Kinser. I know there is at least one completely pet friendly but I thought that all towers were pet friendly to a certain floor now. Maybe someone who lives in one can tell you for sure. 

All towers are pet friendly. One tower is allowed to have dogs and cats on any level because that tower was the pet tower before new rules came. Now you can have a dog or cat on floors 1-3 but only cats on 4-9.
