this is just too scary to laugh at, despite the obvious jokes.

Obese nanny dies, crushes infant.

dream~on --- 13 years ago -

That's terrible :(

Casey --- 13 years ago -

it is. it's really, really sad.

The comments are so very typical of a bunch of obese women. "How dare you suggest that someone's weight could prevent them from doing a job!" "Anyone can die of a heart attack at any time!!" Yes, except obese people are at higher risk of heart attack, among other health problems.

I read an article today about a woman who raped her infant son, videotaped it and sent it to her boyfriend.

WTF!!!

Casey --- 13 years ago -

jesus h christ. that's disgusting.

From that linked article:
The woman was described as "extremely heavy" by Detective Lt. Gerard Pelkofsky, who said: "She was extremely large-breasted ... Because of the amount of flesh, it could have caused the baby to suffocate."

Was this nanny breat-feeding the infant?

Sounds like an OTR event....

Maybe the nanny fell onto the baby in a way that the baby's head was under her large breasts.

GAOKI Girl --- 13 years ago -

I read a very graphic article in Parents' mag many years ago when I was preg with my daughter. It was the heartbreaking story of a mother in a poor country that had to return to work after a short maternity leave. She decided to leave her baby with her neighbors adult son in her home while she worked her shift. When she came home, he was passed out on the couch and the baby was crying. She went to the bedroom and her baby was on the bed and the baby's diaper was stained with blood. When she opened the diaper, there was a GAPING hole where the baby's little parts had been. That a'hole had raped a tiny baby and just put her diaper back on like nothing had happened and momma would not notice. When my daughter was born and I changed her for the first time, I immediately thought of that and felt like I needed to vomit. There are some sick friggin people in this world. Stupid of the Momma to leave her with him, but damn, that is so messed up.

Losing a baby is terrible.

Casey --- 13 years ago -

the nanny died of some health problem she's had in the past, and fell over onto the baby, who then suffocated under her ample extra skin/weight. dad found her and then flipped her and found the baby when he couldn't find the baby anywhere else in the house.

Casey --- 13 years ago -

Yea.. sick crap like that happens sometimes. disturbing. it would be really unfortunate for the offender if something like that happened to my kids, and i was the first to find them.

Would any adult that fall on top of a one month old have the same affect on the baby ?? Hence people say you should not share a bed with a baby ( not the case) because if you roll over on top with kill the child

Freaky Biznatch Mstar --- 13 years ago -

I think a larger person is more likely to smother a baby because of extra skin. I think it would be pretty difficult for me to smother a baby with my body because there are only a few places I have enough skin and fat to do it.

ample extra skin/weight

^^This and descriptions of other "odd horrific" events in this thread just changed my Monday morning mood. :-(

There was a mom recently I read about who had a daughter that wasn't potty training fast enough so she beat the kid and superglued her hands to the wall.

Casey --- 13 years ago -

jesus.

Freaky Biznatch Mstar --- 13 years ago -

I hope the wall was next to the toilet at least.

LovedLivingInOki --- 13 years ago -

Doesn't say.

DALLAS (KABC) -- A toddler is on life support after her 22-year-old mother glued her daughter's hands to a wall, kicked her in the stomach and beat her over a potty training issue, Dallas police said.

Authorities say the child's mother, Elizabeth Escalona, was crying and hysterical when she called her own mother on Wednesday morning. When the grandmother arrived at the apartment, Joselyn Cedillo, 2, was unconscious.

The grandmother took her to the hospital, where doctors found that she had multiple internal injuries.

One of the girl's brothers said their mother kicked the child in the stomach and beat her with a belt and shoe, according to police records.

The girl was found to have glue and paint stuck to her palms and skin torn away in places.

Another sibling said Escalona dragged Joselyn by her feet from the kitchen to another part of the apartment, put glue on her hands and stuck them to the wall.

I cant even imagine, how can someone lose with a child that way.. I have 5 kids, at times they do make me mad, and is so simple just to walk way from the situation and calm down, at the very least ask for help.. that is nothing wrong with not being able to handle alone sometimes , that is why people should know to ask for help

Reminds me of when I worked at a CDC, many moons ago.

There was a woman who had an aneurysm and managed to survive-and come back to work.

Because they were too afraid to say no (lawsuits and such) they let her resume her regular duties. She worked in an infant room until too many people complained about how unsteady she was.

Then they moved her to a toddler room-and she passed out one day, in the middle of the class of 1 year olds. Luckily, she did not fall on top of a kid. She was large-not obese, but not a small woman by any means.

Then, they moved her to preschool, where one day, she passed out, vomited and I believe urinated during the episode of passing out.

They finally, finally, finally moved her to duties that didn't involve the kids. I can only imagine the lawsuits had she dropped a 6 week old infant, or fallen on top of one of the one year olds.

It was extremely stressful working with her-she became another child to watch.
