Do you need to have the JCI and road tax done in order to junk a car?

Brittany --- 16 years ago -

We just junked our van last week, two days before JCI expired so I don't know about that. We did have to pay for two months of road tax though.

LeavinOkiIn09 --- 16 years ago -

no I don't think so. My friends had a car that had expired JCI sitting in front of there house for like 3 months and they just junked it last week... I am pretty sure they didn't JCI it. You might have to get the temp tags to drive it so you don't get pulled over for expired JCI. thats only like 15 dollars though...

The Ashes --- 16 years ago -

Thank you, do you know where I can get the temp tags?

LeavinOkiIn09 --- 16 years ago -

yeah it is on Foster... Right by the bowling alley? you know where that is? by the commisary and the ITT place on foster. Its like Vehicle registration or something like that

you dont need JCI or roadtax to junk your car.we just junk our van last week because we just found out that the JCI was expired since february and didnt want to spend more money to jci and pay the roadtax and some repair to it.the Junkshop paid us $250 with no JCI and roadtax

you can go to vehichle registration to get temp tag and it would cost you $15 and its only good for 3-5 days but in order to get that you will have to pay for the JCI insurance and weight fee

The Ashes --- 16 years ago -

Which junk shop did you go through? Thank you.

it is the one by kinser.dont know the name.i can give you directions if youtell me where you coming from

The Ashes --- 16 years ago -

Kadena :)

Paul --- 16 years ago -

You can contact one of the guys in the JU classifieds and they will come pickup the car and junk it for you. You may or may not make some money and no need for the temp tags.

The Ashes --- 16 years ago -

:) thank you I was thinking about that right now.

if you go out kadena gate 1 and head towards kinser.look for the gasoline station name ESSO on your right(a little bit after the bridge)and turn right at the light.keep on going straight and turn another right at the second light, you will see the junk yard on the left but the actual junkshop is on the right(green building)

before you junk the vehicle.you need 2 letter of attorney.you can get it at vehicle registration.make sure to get 2.you may only have to pay $15 for the temp tag if you are going to junk it and not going to JCI it.if you junk it your self you will get money back

I think you will be able to get atleast $150.year doesnt matter.the more heavy the car the more money you'll get

i know one of the guy that junk his exiv got $200 back but he had some extra weights on his trunk.the junkshop dont check wg-hatever you have on it.they just told you to drive it to their scale and tell you how much you're gonna get

The Ashes --- 16 years ago -

Oh what do you need the letter of attorneys for? Sorry for all the questions I just know nothing about junking a vehicle... let alone buying from a dealership lol Absolutely new to everything. Again thank you for your help.

Paul --- 16 years ago -

It's not actually a power of attorney...it is a bill of sale.

It's not actually a power of attorney. not power of Attorney, when you go to the vehicle registration..ask them 2 copies of letter of attorney and tell them you are going to junk your car and they will give you 2 copies of letter of attorney.
