So, I just saw a post on OYS about theft in the Chibana area. I too items in our vehicle stolen. We never had an issue here so to be honest we hardly ever locked our doors (like a dumb butt). We had an IPOD and camera stolen. One time my purse was turned upside down with all the items taken out of it scattered but nothing stolen. Ugh....and I didn't report it. I don't know why we didn't, but just didn't. 

O yeah....and my kids scooter got stolen. 

the wierdest thing happened to us abt 2 yrs ago..my hubby "lost" his keys and he keeps his wedding ring on his keys.. they were missing for abt a week..and then one day his wedding ring appeared in MY CAR..and my doors are always locked! the keys were never returned but the ring was...sooo puzzling! and this was on ODG! 

its all these punk kids whose parents dont give a sh*t what they do and dont even know where they are half the time. Something needs to be done. 

You just made me paranoid, so I ran outside and locked my car... 

I've had a friend get his Ipod stolen from his car as well. Kids here are like kids anywhere else in the world. I would think they could get in more trouble and that would deter them, but they are still young dumb kids (most of the time that is who steals things) I can't even go into the shoppette without locking my car. When I first got here, I never put my purse down, even at a friends house! I feel very safe inside my house, but outside I know there are still bad people roaming.... 

You know, I thought that I would be able to leave my car and house unlocked when I left, but i guess not... I guess being on base doesnt mean sh!t.. 

Its bad when you feel safer off base than you do on base...LOL 

u know i always see people in the morning and evening at the foster cdc who leave their cars on windows open unlocked with purses on the seat all open its like ok mayb ur in a rush but y leave ur car on with everything do they feel that safe here thats just stupid if u ask me 

Someone stole our charcoal grill on ODG. I was also talking to my neighbor the other day and they had someone steal their son's outside playhouse. We have also had a tv, dvd player, and mirror appear under the stairs. None of them belong to me or my neighbor! I have reported it, but they didn't do anything. 

Oh I think I left my car unlocked the other day when I went to the commissary and I live in Chibana...I'm gonna go lock it tonight! LOL. I don't have anything in there though! 

I've never had anything stolen but either the trash people ganked my tv that was sitting outside my house (It was too heavy for me to get inside so I spent a week trying to get someone to help me) but it was gone tonight... 

I would have helped you Bryn! I got our 47" up here stairs here... I hope I don't get anything stolen, I do leave our house unlocked from time to time when I go walking...but we have a pretty active (and seems) safe neighborhood. 

Kathryn lol it was one of those older style wooden box tv's so they weigh a TON. I got the thing in my car, and near my front door but I was so tired I couldn't get it any farther! 

It's horrible that you can't trust anyone nowadays, but at the same time, if you are leaving your vehicle or house unlocked with your valubles visible aren't you kind of asking for trouble? I ALWAYS lock everything! Better safe than sorry :(

NO WAY?!?!?!? man punks these days..it makes me so mad that the parents of these kids dont do a dang thing..all the kids look and act like hoodlums! im so glad my son is so young and wont be a military dependent

i dont think being a military dependant has anything at all to do with it i think its just the stupid parents who are to lazy to get of thier *sses and take some action on thier teens!

Pretty much. I had my wallet stolen out of my purse in my car because I left my car unlocked for just a few minutes to run in somewhere. I lock my car everywhere I go now. This is also why I don't leave any of my kids toys outside. We store everything in the house or in our storage thing. Our neighbors have had their coolers stolen numerous times. Once it actually had beer in it and was found (empty) the next day, in a field. 

I think the kids are scared to steal from me. Cant say I blame them. I look like a zombie most days. 

I remember last year, when I first got to the island, some teens would hang out behind Stearley Heights Elementary School, back by the field and BLARE music. I'd go out there furious and they'd speed off in their cars like "YES MA'AM" ..haven't seen them since. Funny thing though. They were probably either my age or a year younger than me! 

My friend had her kids wading pool drained and stolen out of her front yard during a lunchtime break from playing. 

And people steal your laundry if you are washing it at an on-base facility. I had at least 4 of my brand new shirts stolen right out of the basket when my husband ran to get something to eat. I couldnt believe it. 

lol On the ship once... someone stole my laundry bag. I set it on my rack (bed) and went to the head (bathroom) and came back all my dirty socks and underwear were gone.

Six month cruise + Half my sock supply stolen = Very pissed off sailor! lol 

Two people I know had their Ipods stolen from their cars because they didn't lock them. I always lock mine! One friend lived on shields and the other on McT. 

See this is why I have a creative labs mp3 player. kids these days dont know what it is :D
