What do yall think about it? Not a shot of tequila or anything but a pregnant woman having A beer or A glass of wine..
Just wanna hear what yall think:)
I think pregnant women should not drink at all.
No one knows what effects even a small amount of alcohol will do to your baby.
It's only 9 months. If you are so selfish you can't make it through that, you probably don't need to be a parent.
I'm special.. But my mom fell down the stairs when she was 9 months along so that should explain something:-D
I was just wondering how yall thought about it.
Dom, no offense taken, I was thinking of having a few sips of wine today at my baby shower. It's not a big deal (hell it was easy to stop drinking and smoking) I just wanted to see:)
Lol no Dom, definitely not even for sure having a glass.. Was just asking others opinions on the subject. I actually saw a girl out last night who was pregnant and had a beer and wondered what everyone else thought on the subject.
I agree that it's selfish. Having a few sips of wine isn't worth the possible consequences. If you want to have the taste or feel of drinking, buy some sparkling champagne. They sell it at the commissary. That's what I did when I was pregnant and we wanted to have a romantic dinner.
Just say no!
I was never a big drinker to begin with so it wasn't hard for me to stop drinking at all.
I've gone much longer than 9 months without drinking before.
If I were you, I wouldn't drink anything. Just get the sparkling grape juice.
Caitlin,
Don't do it. You'll just end up stressing about the what-if's afterwards. I know from experience-I was in Italy when I found out I was pregnant (we were on vacation) and I had a few drinks about a week before I found out. I stressed the entire pregnancy that I had caused harm (I didn't)-and it wasn't even something that I intentionally did.
That one glass isn't worth the stress it'll cause you.

THIS might be true. That is a very good point.
It wasn't hard for me either. Except, we went to Chilis at the the beginning of my pregnancy and my husband ordered a margarita. It smelled sooo good....so I just licked the salt instead LOL.
Then my husband had to take some medicine for 9 months, and he couldn't drink with it, so it worked out great. LOL
I think she's talking about the sparkling grape juice.
Thanks Bryn. That's what I was talking about. Clearly I was telling her to drink the stuff with no alcohol.

I agree. I drank and smoke before I found out I was pregnant and stopped the second I started having symptoms. I turned 21 when I was pregnant and it was hard not to drink, but I felt so much better for not doing it :)
i tend to go with the surgeon general on this subject. no amount of alcohol is safe.
i heard about this book when i was thinking about getting pregnant last time, it gives you recipes for cocktails without the alcohol in them, i think it's called mommy mocktails or something like that. if you feel like you want to enjoy something like that without the risk, there you go.
hell, go order a virgin daquiri at chili's. i can't taste the difference anyway.
Wow, today was like CRAZY! Honestly I was so busy chatting and eating and all that, I only drank water. Very eventful day, nonetheless
I had so much fun. So did Norm and Jacob. Jacob has a new g/f, lol
