To those who have moved on base from off base that had a dog. (since the new housing policy) Did they put you in a tower and make you get rid of your dog or do they just "threaten" you with the towers?

♥Mrs. Boss ♥ --- 15 years ago -

Housing is housing. they are gonna do what they want and put you in what is available at the time. Some of the towers allow pets now i think.

Sunshine --- 15 years ago -

they told me courtney's pet tower is officer quarters...

Casey --- 15 years ago -

so.. wait a minute... officers are allowed to have pets in their towers but no one else is on courtney? that doesn't sound quite right to me.

Sunshine --- 15 years ago -

Thats what they told me today

♥Mrs. Boss ♥ --- 15 years ago -

Thats what they told me today That sounds a little biast to me. But i don't know anything about courtney or the towers...LOL.

banana4 --- 15 years ago -

I think they just converted the old officer tower into the pet tower - for everyone. Enlisted and officer both. I could be wrong though, best option is to call housing and ask. Technically they only give you 2 options, and if they don't meet your needs, you're screwed. But if you work with them and let them know your situation many times throughout the process (keep reminding them) then they usually try to help you out. When we moved here they offered us 2 towers, but then gave us a multi when we reminded them of our dog.

I think they just converted the old officer tower into the pet tower - for everyone. Enlisted and officer both. I could be wrong though, Unless they changed it, there is an officer pet tower on Courtney, and an enlisted pet tower on Kinser. Nothing unfair at all.

Nicole --- 15 years ago -

Keep in mind that with the new housing policy, if you choose to not accept either offer, you will lose OHA.

Sunshine --- 15 years ago -

Paul its not "fair" when we work on schwab and are not officers...

banana4 --- 15 years ago -

Oh, I thought it was for both. That is kinda crazy though, since Courtney/McT is the closest housing for folks up at Hansen & Schwab..which means Kinser is totally out of the question for folks that work up there. Yeah, best to just call them. I'm sorry if I misled you, wonder where I heard it was both? Hmm, probably just overheard someone talking.

Paul --- 15 years ago -

Paul its not "fair" when we work on schwab and are not officers...  It's perfectly fair seeing as how it is a "pilot" program. The main reason for not allowing pets in the towers is because the HVAC system is shared. All it takes is one nasty family to screw it up for everyone. Cry if you want, but you have other choices available to you.

dependopotamus --- 15 years ago -

Cry if you want, but you have other choices available to you. what choices do we have if we are being made to live on base? when we checked in there was no housing, since we only rated a two bedroom house. They refused to give us a bigger house even though the housing lady told us there where a ton of three bedrooms ready to be moved into. We had to wait for a stupid two bedroom house living in the Courtney Lodge. I asked to have a waiver to live out in town until a house came available. She once again refused us any housing options other then to wait and living in lodging. Keep in mind i could not get a school waiver for my son, so he could start school since we they had no clue what base we where gonna live on. He missed a month and half of school because of the new rules. So no there isn't a choice its up to housing.

ANGELINA --- 15 years ago -

They offered us a tower in Courtney we went and talked to them and they then offered us McT (multiplex) so that we could bring our dog over. I think you just have to be consistent and state your case kind of thing.

banana4 --- 15 years ago -

That's ridiculous Annmarie! They can and should have given you a waiver. You should have made it go up the service member's command, who would have sped the process up. They can give you bigger housing. A new guy to my husband's command was in the lodge for a while, and housing offered him officer housing in Foster (work at Hansen, typical housing is Courtney/McT) since they had no housing available up here for him. He refused it because they didn't want to drive that far, and he was allowed OHA to live off base.

They refused to give us a bigger house even though the housing lady told us there where a ton of three bedrooms ready to be moved into. What rank is your hubby?

Ash-Uh-Ley! --- 15 years ago -

Please wait more days! :)

dependopotamus --- 15 years ago -

E-6 SSgt. It was so stupid, keep in mind we got here and five days later my husband left to Thailand. So it wasn't the most easiest move in the world for ME..

Nicole --- 15 years ago -

E-6 SSgt. that's why they refused to give you a bigger house.

dependopotamus --- 15 years ago -

Yup, but to live in Courtney lodge for a month and half so sucked too.. When the lady was like oooooh we got 586 three bedrooms. My question is, what if we want another baby??? will we get a bigger place? will they move us.. OOOOH to have the option of living out in town...

ChiTownGrl --- 15 years ago -

Yes you will get a bigger place if you have a baby. It sucks that you were in lodging for so long, but I agree with them not giving you a bigger place than you need. If they made that exception for everyone, all of the 3 bedroom would be full for those who qualify for them.

Ash-Uh-Ley! --- 15 years ago -

Why on earth would you bother to move on post from an off post? Dork.  Unable to get their finances in check....I guess. I would never ever ever move back on post from where I live. I would rather be broke all the time and stay home in my nice apartment with awesome view, than have money.

SemperFiChic --- 15 years ago -

I strongly dislike the Kadena Housing Office...that's all.

I strongly dislike the Kadena Housing Office...that's all. Do you have any stories about them? :)

♥Mrs. Boss ♥ --- 15 years ago -

Unable to get their finances in check....I guess. IDK about that. That's not always the reason. I had some friends that lived off base in a really nice apt. and they ended up moving back on base when thier lease was up, because they did not like having to run all the way to base when they needed something or wanted to visit someone. The kids had no yard to play in ect.... Many reasons not just finances :-)
