i checked previous iphone threads and couldn't find info on what I am looking for.......... so..my husband calls me on his lunch break to talk to me about getting iphones w/ softbank. He tired calling me a few times after to "talk about it", bc he really wants it. Sounds like an impulse buy.. I am aware of their spotty service...we are w/ AU. So before i have to hear about why we should increase our phone bill........bc it's a "free iphone". Can you use it in the states? Is it worth it? We live out in town, so is the service just crappy on base. 

I heart my iPhone. You cannot use it anywhere other than Japan unless you unlock it.

I'm with nicole and silly LLIO.. I totally heart my iphone.. life has gotten so much easier with IT!!!! My husband begged and cried for it... So i caved in.. So worth it.. SOOOO worth it. There is an app you can down load, for $35.00 a year you can text to the states unlimited.. i'm a texting fool... :c) I do plan to unlock when we go back to the states but i'm gonna be here in oki a while.. so its so worth it.. :c) PS my service is so much better with my iphone.. I have service in my house where with my other phone i never had service. 

What app AM? And can you text anyone, or only those with iPhones/itouches?

The app is call Textfree.. here is the site www.txt2day.com.. you can text anyone with it. my brother has Verizon and my mom has At&t... pretty cool little thing.. Specially when i don't feel like talking 

umm to unlock it, i believe its call jail breaking??? some program you down load.. my husband is the computer guy.. me not so much.. there was a day a while back where people where talking about jail breaking.. Search Jail break in the search bar

My husband had his broken while he was TDY and he can no longer receive pictures in texts.

Yikes he might have gotten a bad program. I know a few of my husbands marines did that.. So they took the phone back to soft bank and got new phones lol one way of scamming the system.. Free new iphones.. just a trade in, hey its not working have no clue kind of thing

I dont have an Iphone but I have a touch and I use an app called TextPlus and I text my mom and dad constantly. Been texting my husband since he's been in Hawaii. Its a pretty cool little app..
