Would you do it? I am watching these guys on tv flip a house and they are pinching the hell out of their pennies. Even going as far as using old carpet from another house.. Trying to put a budget on the house remodeling of $10,000 too. They keep b*tching about getting it done before the next mortgage payment is due and how that payment will break the bank. Damn!! Why would u take on something so financially demanding without the money to back it up?

risk vs. reward...there is a thrill to it. Many people make quite large profits flipping homes. I wouldn't want to take that risk though.

Nicole --- 15 years ago -

I think it's not so profitable these days now. :( My aunt did that some. She made some killings.

the market sucks right now and honestly, i dont see it getting any better anytime soon. If I had the money to spare, I would love to try it but the risk is not worth it..

With the housing market the way it is now, I think it would be silly. There are much better ways to invest your money.

When the housing market was good....It was worth doing. Now....I wouldn't so much suggest trying to do it for a living. If the market came back up though, you can make a killing flipping if you know how to do it properly.

know how to do it properly. This...

Choosing a darker finish on the wood to camouflage the damage from dog/cat urination... That sounds promising!!

That show makes me scared to buy a house that isn't new and built from the ground up.

That show makes me scared to buy a house that isn't new and built from the ground up. yes because problems can arise down the road and things can come up and before you know it, the back of your house is falling due to lack of foundation.. The bottom line is, if you're going to flip a house..dont half a$$ it.

The bottom line is, if you're going to flip a house..dont half a$$ it. As long as the check is clear and I am legal. I wouldnt care if the house fell down around the new owner. lol

I wouldnt care if the house fell down around the new owner. lol People who flip houses generally aren't out to "please" whomever buys the house anyways.....they are in it for the money. If the house falls out from underneath of them... it was their own stupid fault for not getting everything thoroughly checked out with an inspector before buying a house. They would deserve it :-)
