Hi Ladies. My family and I will be stationed there in Jan so I am wondering what you ladies think of Oki so far? 

It's just like every other duty station, some love it and some hate it. If you have a negative attitude it's going to suck, if you don't then it won't.

"Bloom where you're planted" and all that crap. 

I have loved it here (been here 2 1/2 years) but I'm ready to go back stateside. 

We've been here two years this month and I love it. I'll be sad to leave next year. 

Uh, im off and on. Its not bad. Great experience but we miss Pendleton! 

I loved the island and the people I met.
I hate me "personal" experience there. But the overall experience was nice.
I wish I could've divorced my husband and stayed there. 

As long as you don't try to compare it to anywhere you've been in the states, because you will be sorely disappointed, and have an open mind, you should be fine here. 

I've been here for about 3.5 years and am so ready to leave. If you're not military and/or involved with PACAF, you might actually enjoy it. 

I know military people who like it here. 

Love it!!!!!!!! :D :D :D but there are some japanese/american "narrow minded-ness" that can be seem in some. 

I just read this- and MG would agree somewhat with Mary. He loves Oki, not so much Kadena.

I like it here the first 6 months was hard, due to the move and everything. We already are talking of extending. 

I like to randomly ask people if they like Okinawa while I'm out.

I'm not a lady but what Angel said has a lot of truth to it. This is my 5th time here and I was here as a dependent once before as well. I love it. There are tons of things to do both on and off base. If you want to save money this is a very good place to do it. There is good and bad everywhere you go. IMO there is a lot more good about Oki than bad.
