... is reading the comments posted on the Okinawa Hai website today about its restaurant. It sounds like they need to make some changes.

Has anyone been to there yet and had a good experience? How was the food?
The author of the article made it sound very good, but the comments say otherwise.

Blue fuzzy creature --- 14 years ago -

All those comments came from the same person with a grudge against OHOP.

At least that what my heart wants to hear. I'd love a place like this that is awesome....

madmel --- 14 years ago -

Everyone I know who has gone says it's over priced and the food is lousy. I'll stick to the Rocker for breakfast until we leave.

Casey --- 14 years ago -

the officers club has great breakfast too.

and airpower cafe.

from Kulp --- "I'd love a place like this that is awesome...."

Though I have not been there, Jakkepoes in Yomitan Village is supposedly such a place.
Many Americans rave about their food, and it is written about on many Japanese blogs, nearly all with good comments.
It has also been on Japanese TV shows a few times, with video clips of many Americans crowding the restaurant, devouring the pancakes.

Casey --- 14 years ago -

but.. but.. the pictures in that okihai write up make it look so good..

i am disappointed. i'm not driving all the way up past hansen to find out.

Casey --- 14 years ago -

yea...

cafe casa is great... i'll stick with that and the o club, and airpower for now.

Casey --- 14 years ago -

i didn't like the rocker as much, i eat in cafe latte at the o club, not the main restaurant.

ChiTownGrl --- 14 years ago -

I wish we had somewhere good for breakfast on Kinser. Surfside's breakfast sucks.

Casey --- 14 years ago -

rose garden was just Ok when i went. but we went around lunch time. maybe it's better at actual breakfast time.

Nicole --- 14 years ago -

I will go to the place in Yomitan at least once before I leave.

ChiTownGrl --- 14 years ago -

I agree with M. Rose Garden has great french toast. My husband really liked their homemade sausage too (that sounds dirty ;) )

Nope, not true, sorry. I posted one of the comments. I was very disappointed with the food and I am not picky.

Elizabeth --- 14 years ago -

Has anyone tried Climax Coffee across from the San A by Araha beach. They have pretty decent pancakes. The kids enjoy the berry pancakes. However they do load them up with heavy whipcream.

Elizabeth --- 14 years ago -

I like the the Eggs benedict from the Rose Garden!!! Kids like their french toast. Hubby likes their omelets.

madmel --- 14 years ago -

I haven't tried the O'Club. My understanding is it's the same as the Rocker with a few extra things, but I'm not really interested in the extra things.

I heard the O club has all you can eat crab legs and mimosas. Maybe I'll try it since I'm going to practically live in walking distance.

Nicole --- 14 years ago -

Other than that, the Oclub breakfast has nothing better than does the Rocker, and it's twice as expensive.

if you read the rest of the post, he was joking.

I think they're talking about the one on Kadena. I love a good walk, but Plaza to Kadena is quite far!

Krystle --- 14 years ago -

I wanted to go to ohop, but the time we were about to go a friend talked us into getting crappy rocker breakfast... :/

Teresa --- 14 years ago -

Yes, I understand he was joking and I agree with the rest of the comment.

The Dramallama --- 14 years ago -

The sunday buffet at the rocker is badass.

RunDMC --- 14 years ago -

Has anyone tried Climax Coffee
Great place! The coffee is good and the panini's are awesome!

Blue fuzzy creature --- 14 years ago -

Ever wonder how much of a killing you would make if you could open a CoCo's right next to a Marine Corps or Air force base in the states...

I have so many friends that were once stationed here that have asked me to mail them back some.

I know there is one in Hawaii...

Blue fuzzy creature --- 14 years ago -

There's a Cocos in Cali now.

I had no idea about this. I'll have some happy friends. Any idea where abouts?

From the sound of it, you came out ahead. I actually like the Rocker breakfast buffet. The one on Sunday anyway.

I'll have to go sometime, We usually go to the O club so I can chow down on some crab legs!

The restaurant name used in the OkinawaHai article is OHOP, but the real name of the place is OHOP's (with the ‘s), it is even in the photos that the author took of the sign on the building. Why would the OkiHai author drop the obvious apostrophe and letter ‘s’?

OHOP’s shows up on a few Japanese blogs, but not OHOP. Those blogs said the food looked ‘cute’ but no raves.

If you Google search OHOP you get some interesting results: the Orlando House of Prayer, Orange House of Pizza (in Mass.) and many towns and businesses named after the Ohop Indian tribe.

The latest comment indicated OHOP's has reduced their open hours, probably to accommodate most of their likely customers, Marines from Camp Hansen that don’t have a car and wander out the gate looking for anything to eat.

A few days ago it was OHOP's that took a beating in the comments on OkinawaHai website, and now it is Chili's on Kadena Air Base.
It has been discussed previously (but it has been awhile) on OU, so what are some current comments about Chili’s

Krystle --- 14 years ago -

Chili's has been terrible on wait time for food!
But they do have a new limited time menu out which features mojitos and fajitas. ;)
