Hello everyone. Air Force is sending me to Kadena and I will be arriving before the end of the week. I called verizon to switch to an international plan for my BB but it turns out they have dropped all Asia support at the beginning of the year. Thx Big red... A holes. Anyway I was looking that it's possibly to unlock your blackberry and then use a Docomo sim card in it but I was just wondering if anyone is using a BB on Docomo or not? I would like to stay with my BB as my entire family and a lot of my friends have them and we BBM quite often. If anyone has any information on this I would greatly appreciate it. Haven't heard of anyone as of yet being able to unlock and use any of the cell carries over here.

People have asked and tried, but as far as I know, no one has had any luck. 

well... I won't be using my cellphone much as a cellphone. I would be using it for the email and BBM. Which is why I went with Docomo as it's got BB service. You have to have BB internet service (BIS) to use it for all it's features. Otherwise you have just another phone... 

haha you are quite right my dear. I was just pointing out that Docomo is the only carrier that has BIS. That was all. I appreciate all the advice everyone. I'll get my 9550 unlocked and we'll see what happens after I get there. Most likely I'm SOL and i'll have to buy a phone. Verizon really screwed me on this one. Really wishin I had my Orders to Hickam back right about now haha. Anyway you all have a great day. i'm going to hit the sack. Been a long day.

I've had zero problems with docomo on island. 

It isn't her phone. It's the reception. 

I'd bet it has a lot to do with the phone too. Different models/makers are less reliable. Sharp comes to mind.

Several of my friends are physicians and others are healthcare workers, so at first seeing the acronym BBM used here was quite shocking, until I read there are other definitions for it.
Check the 4th entry for BBM in the Urban Dictionary, that is the one that is more familiar.

Even more amusing are the definitions for Blackberry in the Urban Dictionary.
The first two entries are traditional style gobbledygook, but numbers 4 thru 7 are short and get to the point.

Wow, in reference to Okinawa as the island, that is a phrase (look forward to seeing it) that is very rarely heard (that sounds more appropriate for the ‘OMG I am so excited’ newbies posting crap on OkiHai)

“Seeing the island” . . . . That should take you about 42 minutes (the travel time from Naha Airport to KAB), so what will you be doing the rest of the years you are in Okinawa?

Well stoo. I'm a tanker crew chief. So i won't be on oki much as I'm a flying crew chief and they apparently have no experienced tanker crew chiefs. They all come from other airframes (YAY me :/). This topic has really derailed haha.

Depends if you want to spend all the money at once or make payments really.

You can go to a dealership (BC, Johnny's) and give them about $1000-$1500 down, and make payments for the rest of the amount due, and that takes care of JCI etc etc...

Or, you can buy it from a private seller (OkinawaYardSales)
