Good morning Rachel, and welcome to OU. Thank you for your question!! I put "oxygen" into the OU search thingy here wondering if this topic was discussed previously among all the incredibly diverse topics which have appeared here. However, your question is the only one to show up in that search. Then again, the OU search thingy is quirky and not always accurate or helpful (some people would use those terms to also describe most of the reply comments that get posted here! :-/ )
Last year at a gathering/event I heard a discussion about O2 places in Naha, but don't remember the details. However, a quick google search brings up two places, both in Naha City of course. There are also hyperbaric spas here too but it sounds like you are more into the 'bubbly' type of O2 and not the 'pressure chamber' type.
Well, since I use iPhone most of the time now it is a little harder doing searches for info and then copy and paste information. And some places that appear in searches may actually have closed; I am trying to verify before posting the info here. So, it may be a little while before I post the locations. Hopefully Rachel is not feeling too light-headed and dizzy this morning, wanting to get to a place ASAP.
Yes, I'm wheezing and choking and at the edge of my seat, awaiting the coordinates please.
Thank you for the welcome! I'm glad the search bar didn't turn up anything, because I didn't check it and would've felt a fool if it had. I did check google though, and turned up nothing. So much for me fancying myself the google queen. I'm not sure WHAT I'm into. Bubbly sounds more fun though. I've never been to an oxygen bar, but I feel a sudden need to.
Check that page for address, copy and paste into google map. It is located in Ameku section of Shintoshin Naha City. It is on a very narrow building along that main road that the Sports Depo, McDonalds, ToysRUs, Prefectural Museum, etc are all on (ends at route 330 at DFS). The building is in the first block after you turn off of route 58, BEFORE the Sports Depo plaza. On the second floor of that building, the hours shown may be incorrect, other blogs/sites show hours are 1:00pm to 8:00pm.
I highly recommend bringing yen and a Japanese-speaking friend (unless you are bilingual). Of course, since you are coughing so much and feel ill, a friend who also drives would be great!
There is a "capsule" place that comes up in many searches also, like a hyperbaric chamber. It is "behind" the AEON JUSCO in Naha; on Route 221 (the road number Route 330 changes to when it crosses the big river/waterway).
Kara--I've never been before, so I can only tell you what I've read and heard..but apparently it's just extremely invigorating. Almost, but not quite, an intoxicating experience?
I've made an island bucketlist..doing all the things I never did my first time on Okinawa, and it's on there right under hookah bar (strategic placement!). So you see, this is why I must go.
sToO--I'm in your debt. Thank you :) Now to find a bilingual friend who wants to tag.............I might manage though. I'm good at wildly gesturing until I'm understood.

Along with the 'flailing' extremities, speaking veeeerrryyyy sloooowly in a loud voice should help those 'local asian foreigners' understand what you are wanting/requesting.
If you have an iPhone you can use that Okinawa2Go free translation service.

I use the translator on my phone with great regularity. Thanks for bringing up the topic Rach. I've never heard of an oxygen bar before. I feel enlightened!!
No, I'll go today to the BX to grab a convo book. I swear!

List is constantly being added to, but there is the latest version, sans my food-to-eat list (is that going too far?) I kind of want to go to a steam room too. But I'm afraid I'll break all kinds of etiquette rules and/or chance upon a gang-related business transaction gone wrong. A martial arts fight scene obviously ensues and I'm not ready for that..I can't towel-snap.
I want to go get that IPL laser hair removal done too.
Steam room = onsen or sento? There are some in Okinawa but summer weather here is steamy enough for many people! The onsen experience is much better when you travel to mainland Japan; on your visit to Mt. Fuji.
Good call Sto! Didn't think of that..I'll make a note of that. Risner'll keep me steamed til then. FBM..you should. I could be your number one customer? :)
Oh no, bad reviews of 02 Bars..:(:( ..But then, if I took someone else's word for what was wise, I wouldn't have spent the last 4 years of my life traipsing through Canada, chasing after a girl.
