We have been to the Okinawan zoo and weren't that impressed. I was wondering if anyone had been to Neo Park and if it was worth it? My little one is 2...

OkiCrafter --- 16 years ago -

YES. Totally different that the Zoo.

Manna --- 16 years ago -

Would it be enjoyable for a 2 year old or is it geared more towards older children? Thanks! :o)

OkiCrafter --- 16 years ago -

Depends. Is your little one scared of animals? They really get up close and personal at Neo Park. You can ride tortoises, feed big bird, pet monkeys.....there is also a train ride in there.

Cookie --- 16 years ago -

We've been to Neo Park and it was lots of fun. I think it would be perfect for a 2yr old. We actually walked right through a flock of pink flamingos.

Master Procrastinator --- 16 years ago -

I think they both suck in different ways.

OkiCrafter --- 16 years ago -

Rebekah, Was there anything you liked about either place?

So Tired --- 16 years ago -

Where is Neo Park? Our little one will be 2 soon & I'm not sure if he'd like it or be afraid. It usually depends on the day with him haha.

OkiCrafter --- 16 years ago -

I wouldn't take them to Neo park if you aren't sure how they will react. If they want to be held all of a sudden and you pick them up, you will get bird poop all over your pants. Birds are EVERYWHERE.

Manna --- 16 years ago -

He actually LOVES animals. Which is why I thought the zoo would be cool, but it was such a bust. He was really into the petting zoo part, but not the others. We're teaching him to sign, and he loves the sign for bird. And he likes to make the noises lol. I think I was just disappointed in the zoo, so wanted to make sure Neo Park was worth the drive :o) I definitely think we'll give it a go. I didn't know you could get so close to the animals. He loved feeding the fish at the Botanical Gardens too.

Manna --- 16 years ago -

Neo Park is in Nago, I believe. I don't have exact directions but I will try and find them :o)

banana4 --- 16 years ago -

Ooh, I've never heard of this place. My daughter loved the zoo (& the little science center inside) She would love this!

Master Procrastinator --- 16 years ago -

Um. The zoo was a good place for the kids to run around like crazies because its hilly in some parts. that's about it. Neo Park had huge peacocks that freaked my baby out and it was kinda funny.

Manna --- 16 years ago -

I think we missed the science center because we weren't getting much of a reaction. I just figured he was too little anyway...

Christina --- 16 years ago -

We loved Neo park! Its right up 58 just past the intersection the pineapple winery is on. Its right past the "mall" on your left

okimomma --- 16 years ago -

Directions: Okay first if you are planning to go you should go to the ITT and get a season pass. They are $15. It will cost you more han that to go once Take the E-way all the way to Nago. Follow the 58 until you pass the Jusco on you r left. There is going to be a large Pachinko place on your left, at the light RIGHT after the Pachinko place turn left. You will see the BIG arch that says NEO park. I have taken my family there A LOT. I have a daughter that just turned 2 this month and we have been going for a year now. She loves it. I would take some extra yen for the petting zoo, it has some goats, dogs, capibara, bunnies and other small rodents. There is also a place that you can dress in Japanese clothes and take a picture. That costs around 500 yen. I can not remember what the cost is for the petting zoo... not very much though. Oh and take raisins if you want to pet and get close to the lemurs. Just shake the box and they will come running. They will eat out of your hand and climb on you if you want them to. They are really nice too!

banana4 --- 16 years ago -

Ooh yay, do you know what the hours are? I think we may try to go on Sunday.

Steph --- 16 years ago -

So in order to have a completely awesome time at Neo Park, how much yen should I bring? This sounds like a place I'd have a blast at.. the kids would love it too. I like the Japanese photo idea..so I'll figure 2000ish yen for that. Do you think 5000 yen would make for a fun day?? (I have 4 kids, almost 6 down to about 6 months)

okimomma --- 16 years ago -

I think they open around 10. I am not sure though. I do know they close around 5 or 6. It will take you around 1-3 hours, depending on how much you linger, to go through the park. You could hit up the pineapple park while you are up there. Oh and for those of you with small kids, there is a bunny store up there too!!

Steph --- 16 years ago -

I found some info on OkinawaHai.com on neo park :) the photo is 500 yen for the family. I'm going to bring about 3000 yen and a picnic lunch.. should be fun. I'm all excited!

Manna --- 16 years ago -

So you guys rock. I definitely want to take the little one :o)

okimomma --- 16 years ago -

The price of the photo has changed. It has gone up. I think it is 700 yen now. I usually bring about 5,000 yen for the day and that pays for the e-way also. I would bring your own drinks. They do have the vending machine outside. There is also a little shop that you can buy drinks. THey do not take cards or dollars though. There is a McDonalds around that area too! Oh and the food to feed the birds is 200 yen. You get a small bag of bread and pellets. THere are several places to feed the birds and animals so keep the bag until the end. The last place you go to have wallaby's and peacocks that will eat the food you buy. We usually get 3-4 bags for the 4 of us. Oh and don't forget your camera. They have albino peacocks and it is mating season so you should be able to see them with their feathers up! They have regular peacocks too. This place is great and the people are wonderful. I can not say enough great things about it!

MOMZ --- 16 years ago -

My family went today for the first time and it was great. We loved it. So much to do. It's a family of 6 so we took 10000 yen and spend every dime of it. LOL. We did everything though. From all the feed to the food to the shaved ice i had shaved ice with real mango on top) to the paddle boats and the farm animal area (dogs where great!). We did it ALL. LOL. I recommend going to ITT first though. We paid about 15 dollars for the year for the whole family. Crazy I know. OOOO...picture of family dressed up was 600 yen. We also did the train and they took a pic as well. The guy must have liked my family because he gave us the photo for free. Thank the lawd because we were out of yen at that point. The shop by the train does take dollars (85 yen to a dollar). We ran out of yen. LOL. OOOOO....outside the train area is a mini park for the kids (jumping area, bumper cars, a couple rides). We all had a good time and I recommend you take the expressway.
