Mary Von --- 15 years ago -

*Shelbysmomma* --- 15 years ago -

the past few weeks? i thought u just found out last week you were preggo? zofran made me feel better!

Mrs. Taken --- 15 years ago -

I had to take the RX Zofran too, I also tried the RX Phenergan and B6 and they didn't work. But if u search the threads on here there is one from when I had it with a lot of great home remedies also :) Good luck!

AirborneWife --- 15 years ago -

Kim, that's one of the reasons I tested..I haven't felt good for weeks now. I had a zofran from my neighbor but took it already and she is at work now. Can't I call the doctor and ask for a prescription or do thryvactually physically have to see me first?

I used to either eat a banana if I thought I was feeling ill because of hunger or I would suck on a peppermint, but only the kind with real peppermint oil. The peppermint flavor/smell takes over everything else, so other smells wouldn't bother me as much. I also found that drinking a ton of water helped me with my sickness.

Mrs. Taken --- 15 years ago -

I had a zofran from my neighbor but took it already and she is at work now. Just an FYI u do not ever want to take someone elses RX, with Zofran there r usually side effects and they usually need to give u a stool softener with it, but u need to ask the Dr first. All pregnancies are different and different people should not take different things :)

Sara --- 15 years ago -

I have it too. Really bad, I've lost 13lbs already. If it gets TOO bad, they'll put you on a Rx. Just tell them, it'll probably be phengren first...if that doesn't work, probably Reglan. They usually give Zofran as a last resort cause its so expensive. I'm on all three cause it's so bad. SO SO many people swear by crackers and ginger ale. None of that worked for me. Ya just kinda got to expierment with what will work for you. Nothing too spicy or greasy is kind of a norm...I hope you feel better! It's never any fun...Oh, and they don't really need to see you if you call and tell them what's going on. They didn't see me!

I keep telling everyone and no one listens :( GINGER TEA!!!!!! It really works!

LeavinOkiIn09 --- 15 years ago -

room temp ginger ale worked for me... and Goldfish... haha I always had them by my bed :)

room temp ginger ale worked for me... and Goldfish... haha I always had them by my bed :) I'm not even pregnant and THAT sounds sickening. All pregnant women have different tastes, I could only eat salt-free crackers, and drink icy cold water when I went through that stage of pregnacy. I craved sex .. hubby had a blast.

Steph --- 15 years ago -

With my first the only thing that helped me was peanut butter. My doc thought it was weird because there's a lot of fat in peanut butter *shrugs* You just have to find what works for you. Usually, but not always, giving in to my cravings worked out well, too.

Mrs. Taken --- 15 years ago -

The peanut butter works for some because it is full of Protein. When I had mine they sent me to the nutritionist because I was loosing so much weight and was borderline Gestational diabetes. They say for morning sickness also eat something every 2 hrs (small items ex 2 tsp peanut butter, peanut butter crackers, ham, hard boil egg, something with protein helps fight against morning sickness as well as sugar issues.

Steph --- 15 years ago -

I would eat it out of the jar with a spoon! With my first it was the only thing I could keep down. Seeing/smelling/thinking about chicken made me throw up instantaneously! KFC commercials were the worst :(

gr8_1 --- 15 years ago -

I was told to avoid peanuts and peanut products while pregnant. You can google it.

boone --- 15 years ago -

I was told to avoid peanuts and peanut products while pregnant. You can google it. Why would they give you peanut butter on WIC if you were supposed to avoid it?

gr8_1 --- 15 years ago -

Why would they give you peanut butter on WIC if you were supposed to avoid it? Dunno, I never used WIC. Like I said you can google it. Also can ask mother's who have children with peanut allergies if they ate peanuts while pregnant 99% of the time they will say yes, actually for me it was 100% of the time .. so personally, I didn't think it was worth the risk.

AirborneWife --- 15 years ago -

Hmmmm that's a good question Boone. I found something that worked for me today. My hubby bought me the pizza combos from the shoppette and I am munching on them right now. I used to haaaaaaaaate them buy for some reason they taste pretty damn good right now:) I'm definitely going to the commisary to buy some Ginger. Does it matter what kind of tea cause I have the stuff that they use at Cocos when u get ur pedicures and that is the only tea I can drink right now for some reason.

The people who work at WIC are nurses or registered dietitians that specialize in infants and children. I'm pretty sure that they would eliminate peanut butter from their drafts if it were directly linked to peanut allergies. I'll talk to the lady I go to about it the next time I go in.

LeavinOkiIn09 --- 15 years ago -

I could only eat salt-free crackers, and drink icy cold water cold water always made me sick... it was wierd. I couldn't drink ice water or any drink really cold because then I got naseaus!

boone --- 15 years ago -

Also, I just looked through the book and pamphlets handed out at the pregnancy class and it doesn't say anything in there about avoiding peanuts or peanut products. Just talks about fish, raw eggs, caffeine, deli meats, and certain cheeses.

Also talk to your Dr. If you google it you will find some mixed responses (as always). Here's an article I found: click here Theories change frequently.

I see the perinatoligist. High Risk OBGYN and Nutritionist at Lester and they all said it was fine. They had to go over my diet log for the Gestational diabetes stuff and believe me it was on there 2-3 times a day everyday. Just ask your own Dr. to be sure, I think your Dr. probably knows more then google.

Mom of 4 by 24 --- 15 years ago -

i'm so going to read what everyone else writes because this is my 4th baby and man oh man.. they told me the more you have the worse it gets.. ugh.. i can only eat once a day if i'm lucky.. and as of right now crakers and ginger ale is working for me.. so that is something.. i haven't even seen the baby yet i will be a month and 3 weeks before i even see him/her but i'm so ready to see the doctor this is driving me crazy also!!

Kitten17 --- 15 years ago -

I had morning sickness so bad the first 3 months of this pregnancy that I thought I had the flu. Doc said it was because it was twins. It went away for a while but this last week its slowly coming back. That or I am getting sick

Nicole --- 15 years ago -

The peanut thing is suggested only if there are many people with severe peanut allergies in your family. Otherwise, you're fine...except for the fact that peanut butter is full of sugar and fat. :)

Mom of 4 by 24 --- 15 years ago -

peanut butter is good for you i think its the iron in it.. some pregnace women lack the iron... that is what they told me to eat with my children i also had to take iron pills..
