AT 29/0300L, Tropical Storm 08W WAS LOCATED 19.7 DEGREES NORTH AND 137.7 DEGREES EAST, WHICH IS 710 NAUTICAL MILES SOUTHEAST OF OKINAWA. IT HAD WINDS GUSTING TO 45 KNOTS NEAR ITS CENTER AND WAS MOVING TO THE northwest AT 14 KNOTS. THE JOINT TYPHOON WARNING CENTER IS FORECASTING Tropical Storm 08W TO BE LOCATED 23 NAUTICAL MILES southwest OF KADENA BY 31/0500L.

2. IF Tropical Storm 08W CONTINUES TO MOVE AS FORECAST, DAMAGING WINDS OF 50 KNOTS OR GREATER ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR at 31/0300L. THE STRONGEST WINDS ON OKINAWA ARE EXPECTED TO BE SUSTAINED AT 50 KNOTS WITH 70 KNOT GUSTS FROM 31/0600L-31/0900L.

Yeah they are going back only to be off the 6th and have a half day on the 10th..
Remember this is DOD schools, they only go half the time anyways. Half days and full days off of school every other Friday and Wed. 

Fvcking Kadena is having a case lot sale. It sucked balls having to go there.

I swerve at the last minute when people are looking. 

If school does get cancelled where do I find that info? Is there a certain tv channel or something that will give notification? Are the school websites updated with that info? 

I just google Kadena Weather and go to the page and it will keep you updated on the tccor number and all that! 

AFN also has an icon in the bottom corner that says the TCCOR. 

So if it is a tccor 1 then schools are automatically closed? Or do they actually announce school closings?

I have read all the literature they gave out...and while it has a lot of info on typhoons and the kit and all that stuff, I saw nothing about school closings or where to find the typhoon updates etc.

I googled the weather and got a little bit of info....it said something about a typhoon on tuesday. I just didnt know if there was a go-to site that everyone uses. The websites I found were somewhat confusing.

Go to the kadena website (er.. kadena..force support? I think it is) and use their weather thing. It explains everything about the TCCOR stuff.
